The 2012 Umpqua Bank Challenge main field competition was held on Monday, August 27 and Tuesday, August 28.

This year's main field featured an exciting mix of PGA TOUR and Champions Tour professionals, up-and-comers and entertainers.


STEVE ELKINGTON

2011 Umpqua Bank Challenge co-champion, Steve Elkington, is a 27-year member of the PGA TOUR and the owner of 10 TOUR victories, including the 1995 PGA Championship. Originally from Australia, Elkington has amassed more than $15 million in official career earnings. He participated in 10 original Challenge events, his best finish being a T2 in 1998 and 1999 with then-partner Craig Stadler. website.

ROBERT GARRIGUS

Former Oregonian Robert Garrigus joined the PGA TOUR in 2006, earning his first TOUR win at the 2010 Children's Miracle Network Classic. So far this year Garrigus has had two second place finishes and earned more than $1.2 million in official money – and, with an average of 309 yards, is currently ranked no. 2 on TOUR in driving distance.

BILL HAAS

One of the PGA TOUR's rising stars, Bill Haas has three TOUR victories, including the 2012 Northern Trust Open, as well as the title of the 2011 FedEx Cup Champion. Ranked 14th in the world at the time of his commitment (3/12/12), Haas has earned more than $13 million in official prize money since turning pro in 2004. Haas will team with his father, Jay, for the 2012 Umpqua Bank Challenge.

JAY HAAS

Jay Haas, the 2006 and 2008 Charles Schwab Cup winner, has nine PGA TOUR and 15 Champions Tour victories, including three major championships. He participated in nine original Challenge events, his best finish being a T2 in 1997 with then-partner Phil Mickelson. In 2011, Haas teamed with John Cook to tie for second place in the inaugural Umpqua Bank Challenge, finishing at 18-under-par 126.

PETER JACOBSEN

Umpqua Bank Challenge tournament host and the winner of 7 PGA TOUR tournaments and two Champions Tour tournaments, Peter Jacobsen played in all 17 original Challenge events, partnering with Arnold Palmer for 15 consecutive years. In 2011, Jacobsen once again teamed with Palmer at the inaugural Umpqua Bank Challenge, finishing in sixth place at 5-under-par 139. website.

J.J. KILLEEN

After turning pro, 2012 PGA TOUR rookie J.J. Kileen spent six years on the Web.com Tour, during which he earned two wins, nearly $1 million in earnings and the title of 2011 Web.com Tour Player of the Year. This year on TOUR he made 13 cuts in 29 starts, his best finish coming as a tied for 8th at the True South Classic.

CASEY MARTIN

Former PGA TOUR member Casey Martin is heading into his seventh season as the head coach for the University of Oregon men's golf team. Martin placed first in a 2012 U.S. Open sectional qualifier, allowing him to compete in the 112th championship at The Olympic Club in San Francisco – his first time playing in the U.S. Open since the 1998 Championship where he finished tied for 23rd. website.

SCOTT MCCARRON

2011 Umpqua Bank Challenge co-champion Scott McCarron joined the PGA TOUR in 1995 and has since earned more than $12 million in official career money and three victories, including two BellSouth Classics. He participated in six original Challenge events, including the 2002 tournament which he won with then-partner Brian Henninger. website.

BELEN MOZO

2011 LPGA Tour rookie Belen Mozo gained notoriety after posing in ESPN Magazine's 2011 Body Issue. She has made 30 starts in her professional career, earning two top-20 finishes. Before joining the LPGA Tour Mozo was a four-time NCAA/All-American at the University of Southern California.

JAMIE SADLOWSKI

Jamie Sadlowski is a two-time RE/MAX World Long Drive Champion who has career-best and personal-best drives are 429 yards and 445 yards, respectively. The former junior hockey player from St. Paul, Alberta, has turned his powerhouse abilities into a career as a golf entertainer, and has put on more than 100 shows since 2010. website.

KYLE STANLEY

Kyle Stanley, a native of Gig Harbor, Washington, is one of the longest hitters on the PGA TOUR, averaging 302 yards per drive. Stanley turned professional in 2009 and played on both the PGA TOUR and Nationwide Tour before his official PGA TOUR rookie year in 2011. Stanley has more than $3.7 million in official career earnings and picked up his first TOUR win this year at the 2012 Waste Management Phoenix Open.

LEE TREVINO

Though he is best known for his colorful antics and sharp wit, Trevino is a 52-year member of the PGA TOUR who has amassed 29 TOUR victories, including six major championships, and 29 Champions Tour victories, including four major championships, during his career. He was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1981 and, in 2000, was ranked as the 14th greatest player of all time by Golf Digest Magazine.

JASON ALLRED

Born and raised in Ashland, Ore., Allred graduated from Pepperdine University in 2002. He was a member of the PGA TOUR in 2005 and 2008 and has played in both the British Open and U.S. Open Championships.

BRIAN HENNINGER

Wilsonville, Ore. resident Henninger turned professional in 1987, picking up three wins on the Nationwide Tour (now web.com Tour) before joining the PGA TOUR in 1993. During his time on TOUR he picked up two victories, in 1994 and 1999, and amassed more than $3 million in career earnings.

VINCENT JOHNSON

A Portland, Ore. native, Johnson turned professional in 2008 after attending Oregon State University on a golf scholarship. He played on the Gateway Tour during the 2008 season and, in 2009, earned a spot in the PGA TOUR’s Northern Trust Open as the first recipient of the Charlie Sifford Exemption. Johnson picked up his first professional victory at the 2010 Long Beach Open. website.

ANDREW VIJARRO

A 2012 graduate of the University of Oregon, Vijarro grew up in Bend, Oregon where he played golf for Bend High School and was an OSAA state champion. This past March Vijarro picked up his first collegiate title at the Oregon Duck Invitational at Eugene Country Club.
